If you have 20 or more employees, you now have to report using Single Touch Payroll.

Updated: Jul 2, 2019

Single Touch Payroll reporting starts from 1 July 2018 for employers with 20 or more employees.

Count the number of employees who were on your payroll as at 1 April 2018. You can find out who to include in your head count here.

If after doing your head count (1 April 2018) and have 20 or more employees, you are classified as a ‘substantial employer’ and need to start reporting using Single Touch Payroll.

Under 20 employees, you have 12 months to ensure your existing software will be Single Touch Payroll ready or you will need to choose a solution that is STP ready and suitable for your business by 1 July 2019.
